Note: Both the Greenlight Laser Photoselective Vaporization of the Prostate (PVP) and Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP) have to be performed in a hospital setting, and if either of these procedures are selected for your specific course of treatment, it will be scheduled at either Dublin Methodist Hospital or Riverside Methodist Hospital.

Shock Wave Lithotripsy (SWL), also known as Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy® (ESWL)  is a procedure that is designed to fragment  kidney stones from outside the body, allowing the patient to pass the stone fragments naturally. Ureteroscopy is a procedure that utilizes a long, flexible scope that is inserted into the bladder and ureter. This procedure is used to diagnose several  conditions associated with the urinary tract. For ureteral stones, a urologist can find the stone(s) and remove the them by using a tiny wire basket. Holmium laser lithotripsy is a procedure that uses lasers to break up stones that are located in the urinary tract, including the bladder, kidneys, ureter(s), or urethra. For more information regarding this procedure, click here to be forwarded to an external website.

A ureteral stent is a small, soft, hollow tube placed in the ureter. A small scope is inserted into the urethra and up through the ureter to place the stent. For more information about this procedure, click here to be forwarded to an external website.

A cystoscopy is a procedure where a physician examines the lining of your bladder and the urethra, the tube that transports urine out of your body. A flexible or rigid scope may be used to examine the bladder. To learn more about this procedure, click here to be forwarded to an external website.

Dr. Errol Singh has a wealth of experiences in out-patient urologic procedures. The list provided above shows the most common procedures performed by Capital Urology and should not be considered a complete list. If you would like to inquire about a specific procedure not listed above, please call (614) 784 – UROL (8765).

While most urologic procedures are out-patient, hospitalization may be needed for Dr. Singh’s patient. Procedures that are considered in-patient or conducted as out-patient procedures that result in admitting the patient will be hospitalized at Dublin Methodist Hospital, Riverside Methodist Hospital, or other locations where Dr. Singh holds active medical staff privileges.
